Dr. Yoshi Terauchi is an internationally recognized endodontist with over 30 years of experience. His specialty is complicated endodontic retreatments, and especially the most difficult disciplines, namely removal of separated instruments, ledge bypassing and MTA obturation techniques.
He has developed a system for safe and predictable removal of broken files, as well as a number of tools and utilities, the most famous of which is the TFRK – Terauchi File Retrieval Kit.
Yoshitsugu Terauchi D.D.S., PhD. has received master degree in 1993 and completed his residency at Tokyo Medical Dental University in 1995, where he also received his doctorate in endodontics. He has published a number of articles in reviewed journals in Japan and internationally. He is also the author of several textbook chapters, including the 11th and 12th editions of “Pathways of the Pulp”, “Endodontics: the 6th edition of Principles and Practice”, and “Management of Fractured Instruments”. He regularly lectures at international congresses and symposia.

We have managed to convince Prof. Terauchi to devote the whole 4 days to us instead of the usual 1 -2 days (as far as we know, Prof. Terauchi has probably not spoken longer on any other meeting), so there will be an unique combination of a 2-day intensive theoretical part including demonstrations on the stage, followed by 2 days of practical hands-on courses for up to 75 participants.
The two-day lecture program covers attractive topics of endodontic retreatment divided into 2 days – removal of GTP and biofilms, MTA obturation and retreatment, management of ledges, especially non-visible ones.
The entire second day will be devoted to Dr. Terauchi’s royal discipline – removing fragments of broken tools. From simple to extremely complicated cases. Removal of instruments behind the curvature, behind the double curvature, or even out of the canal, from the periapex.
Bypassing “non visible” ledges is one of the biggest challenges in retreatment. The topic will be the introduction of manual and machine/combined techniques, including the new Ledge Bypass Files.
Dr. Terauchi uses only MTA during retreatment – what are the advantages of MTA and how to achieve homogeneous MTA obturation even during standard root canal preparation? How to remove MTA?
